AMMR recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models, in research and writing. The journal permits responsible use under the following conditions:
- Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors, because authorship carries accountability that an AI cannot assume.
- Any use of generative AI in preparing a manuscript — including text, code, data analysis, or figures — must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgments section, naming the tool and how it was used.
- Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the entire manuscript, including any AI-assisted portions.
- Generative AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, results, or references.
To protect confidentiality, reviewers and editors must not upload any part of a submitted manuscript into public generative-AI tools.
